Does anyone know how much fuel is left in the tank after the warning light comes on? SWB 2.7TD 1996. Thanks

Liam it sould be 30-45 miles.....I've run the latter on my LWB with fuel light on and fairy feet but not recommended for the nerves!

yep; I've got a figure of 1.5 gallons in the back of my head from somewhere from handbook (no longer with us unfortunately!)....

That's great, I'll work off that and hopefully never get caught short. Thanks,Paul.

Don't blame me will you! LOL for the eleven years I've had Mavs and Nissans I've been meaning to carry a gallon of spare diesel, but it always ends up being two-stroke for the mower/chainsaw/strimmer etc..

But yes, count on a minimum of 30 miles and the rest is bunce...

Ive only ever managed to put 65ltrs in my lwb with a 80ltr tank when the light comes on so mine should be about 15ltrs but I wouldn't like to find out and suck up all the crap and water from the tank

ooh we got a light then. ive never seen mine come on...

what colour is it? red or orange??

Told you you're earning too much at ripoffkitchens.com:augie
It's orange and it goes off just before you turn over:lol

Mines never come on either ? It does light up on the dash before you flick the starter on the key though ? :nenau

Orange and if you haven't seen it you are way too sensible. You need to live closer to the edge (but bring a spare gallon with you), I used to drive a Renault 18 and it seemed to be all my driving was with the light on, only got caught out once but still managed to get to within 100yds of the house.

Mine rarely comes on because I try to keep it topped up, but have found can only put 65l
in long wheelbase diesel when it has come on , so like other poster 15l still in there. bri

Me too - 65 ltrs...spooky or wot?! LOL

I reckon theres a diesel monster in there taking up the rest of the space and drinking the damned stuff!

Ok,thanks everyone, seems like 10-15litres is quantity left. To be safe I think I'd go with the lower figure rather than try to squeeze another few miles and get caught out. Normally do travel with more than enough fuel on board but sometimes if out and about it can get hairy as rural areas don't have many late night/24hr garages and phone coverage can be dodgy too so it's not easy to call for help. Hard to be spontaneous when out and about if one eye has to be constantly on the fuel gauge but at least now I have some idea of how far I can go if the light comes on.

Four weeks? You must only move it back and forth on the driveway, zippy

. I'm getting 29mpg over mixed driving without pulling anything and not loaded. TBH I thought my fuel light wasn't working until this weekend, needle was pointing well south and then it came on.

wife has the car in the week, so only school run some days

Wish I could go for four weeks on a fill up. I suppose I could get away with 5 euro a week ,if I just went to work and back(6 miles a day).
