Just a quick question with the fuel filler cap has it got the breather built in side the cap or is there a separate breather if there is a separate breather can u buy it from main dealer as the tank cant breath can any1help thanks

How do you mean it's not breathing? There is a small vacuum in the tank that releases when filler cap released which is normal.

I have quite alot and car runs better if I dont screw the filler cap all the way down if that makes sense

these motors have a separate breather system that ends up in a charcoal canister and into the air cleaner, I guess yours is the 2.7 if so I will pop out and have a look at it for you, not given it much attention before particularly as my road going motors are petrol, Rick

I thought the breather was inside the cap ?

Just realised I kicked it all out for the snorkel and filter, but it was the same as the petrol, in that it was controlled by solenoids and vacuum pipes, so all in all it is controlled by the ECU, check the solenoids for continuity, and that the vac pipes are good, all this stuff is on the nearside of the engine bay, also in the bottom of the air filter is a small felt filter this is where it vents you will know it is the right one if you follow the rubber pipe from the chacoal canister, Rick
