Hi everyone, need some help please, 1997 2.7 Aspen, whats procedure for removing my fuel pump? any ideas would be fab!
 
chip? what chip?

the closest thing to any kind of semiconductor in the VP37 IP is the fuel temperature sensor, and that's only a thermistor...
You want to be very sure about the fault before you go removing the IP.
What are the symptoms? current diagnosis etc?
How do you know the "chip" has failed?
 
I have an immobiliser fault, it has stopped sending messages to the fuel pump, when i start the car, there is no fuel. Auto electrician needs to remove the immobiliser that is attached to the pump, and wire it direct. A 10 minute job for him, but a sod to get off, can hardly see it let alone remove it. Don`t want to strip out half the engine bay if there is an easier route, and i do understand about the dormouse! this is a chain of events that started with a snapped key in the ignition.

There are no immobiliser electronics fitted to a standard Bosch VP37, unless someone has fitted some aftermarket kit.

This VP37 IP has the following connections:
a) Fuel cut valve
b) Control sleeve position regulation
c) Control sleeve feedback
d) Fuel temp. sensor

If your imobiliser has kicked in the ECU is not going to work, sure you can bypass the fuel cut off, but then the control sleeve is unlikely to work....

The normal way around this is to fit a "free running" ECU, but that's not an inexpensive option!

If the ecu has cut in is it possible to fit another ecu with matching key from another car
 
You simply need another chipped key, new or used, and call a car locksmith who can program it for you about £60 I had to have my TDi done after I mistakenly tried to start the car 3 times with the wrong key, it then locked me out completely, ten mins with a computer and was sorted, Rick
