Hi all;
Changing my water pump tomorrow, but I wouldn't mind winding the diesel pump up a bit at the same time - anyone offer any instructions?
At the moment, mine's a bit flat, never ever smokes at all & just feels gutless in 4th & 5th, so I'm thinking a bit more diesel may be the answer.

Possibly a TD given its a 96 ??

Before altering the pump, I would check carefully:

The boost aneroid sense line is connected and not split / leaking.
Air filter is nice and clean.
With a boost gauge ensure you are getting 7-9psi (fairly sure this is stock boost for the non intercoolers)
The mini-filter (if present) is clean or removed.

Only then wind up the pump.

TD, non intrcooled.

Aneroid sense line? Hang on, I only deal in hammers, spanners & screwdrivers!

The aneroid is the metal encased diaphragm on the injector pump connected to the manifold which senses pressure, when the turbo starts to blow, and manifold pressure rises & allows more fuelling. - basically there to stop black smoke off-boost.

If the hose or diaphragm is split you will get boost but no extra fuel to go with it and flat performance just as it should pick up.
