Well i've now got a fuel leak     From the mark on the drive it looks as if it's coming from the pump area but it's to dark to find now  The banjo is dry so it's not from there, but I have a feeling it may be coming from the 2 pipes out of the back of the pump.
I was wondering if anyone has had this problem before & what do you have to move/disconect to get to the pump  :?:
Thanks for any advice  I'm now very sick of leaks

Hello Sweety or should I call you Leaky

Both the T2s I have owned have had a fuel leak from the injector leak off pipes, especially the blank end at the rear. The rubber tubing in both cases was cracked and perished.

Cheers Toolbox i'm now starting to think I should chage my name to leaky because of this thing  I'll try & find the pipes you've mentioned tomorrow to see if its them. Theres two that seam to come out of the back of the pump & they seam greasy/damp  but with it being dark it's hard to tell :(

Neil, looking at the engine from the front, the injectors run along the left hand side of the block. In between each injector from the rearmost to the front one is a short section of rubber hose with a braided cover, and from the front injector a longer pipe running down to the pump (?).

I've replaces these pipes at least 3 times, last time only a couple of weeks ago when the diesel was peeing down the rear of the engine and somehow must have been getting into the clutch bellhousing becuase the clutch was slipping. Fixed the leak, slipping clutch gone!

Its a straight forward job, 4 bolts hold the intercooler trim on, 4 bolts hold the intercooler on, then clips secure the pipes. Cover the intake pipes once the intercooler is off, then simply replace the pipes. Halfrauds actually stock this stuff, so supply is easy. Replace everything.

Cheers guys -cheers- I've just been out with my torch & gues what, thats where my leak is  & it looks as if a few of the pipes are missing clips aswell so will get some new ones tomorrow & prob break something else whilst i'm at it with the look i've got
Is there any sort of bleeding you have to do once you've replaced the pipes :?:

No clips on mine either, they are just a push fit. No bleeding either as these are the fuel return pipes that simply leak off the excess fuel back into the system.

Thanks again for the info  I might get better MPG now instead of dumping the fuel down the side of the engine  Tey must have had a few spare clips when they built mine as No 3&4 have clips on & 1&2 don't

Or a previous owner fitted them to try & cure a leak?

Mine does not alter fuel consumption, although the leak is a pain in the backside it doesn't leak enough to effect it.

I've always carried some spare spill pipe and a couple of blanks after the blank leaked not long after getting the car.

Once bitten twice shy

I will be doing the same as you gego  Replaced them today & what a fiddly job   So hopefully will only have a few drips for the next few days as until the fuel on the block runs off
