By now you will have guessed my holiday has enabled me to find out more about this vehicle. So never having owned one before need to get to know them.

So next question:

Engine Surging - it is as though the govenor on an old mechanical diesel pump is fluctuating backwards and forwards when the engine is just cruising along at say 30 - 40 mph in the flow of slow moving traffic.

I could also explain it as when you have just put a 'light touch on the throttle pedal' it seems to surge at this point but not when you throttle off, or when you acclerate or when you are stopped in traffic and the engine is idling.

Really appreciate your thoughts and help.

I guess the first obvious step is change fuel filter and check things like banjo filters etc if you have one.....the manula will tell you whats where....good to ensure you have a clean fuel system before worrying too much about mechanical stuff....

Hi Dave
Did you get your surging problem resolved as mine is doing exactly the same.
Regards Lex

what was it like on tick over?
was the revs going up and down?
if so this is called hunting and could be cause by a leak on the inlet side allowing to much air through and causing the engine to lean burn the fuel.
just a guess and hope it may help
