Hi

I have a 2004 2.2dCi X-trail and have started having problems with the fuel gauge.

After filling up (right to the brim) when I turn on the ignition, the fuel gauge only shows 3/4 full. But once I have stopped and turned off the engine, when switching on the ignition, this time the gauge will show full.

Yesterday the gauge showed half full. Within a few miles the gauge had dropped to quarter full. Again after switching the ignition off and on, the gauge went back to half full.

I have searched the x-Trail forums and can’t see anyone with a similar problem so thought I’d post the problem and see if anyone has any ideas. Is it the gauge or is it more likely to be the fuel sensors?

Any suggestions gratefully received

Tony

Thanks for the quick reply.

I was afraid of that - I think the x-trail has two sensors, so double the fun and double the price...:doh

just noticed mines just started doing it too lol
i think ill live with it unless its a cheap repair

we do have the x trail workshop manual in the technical section , should you require it :thumb2

At the moment I'm still living with it - refilling every 300 miles to be on the safe side. Will however price the parts next month. Oh - insurance due next month, so perhaps the month after that!

Briggie - thanks for the information - I'll download the manual.
