I think I'm getting around 20mpg :eek::eek::eek::(:(:(:(

It is regularly serviced what else can I check / do?

For a 3.0 thats seriously adrift. Should be around 30 in normal use and low to mid 30s driven carefully.

I'd say best bet would be find a decent diesel specialist and get a proper tuneup/diagnosis if you are sure all the air/fuel filters/MAF are clear and working.
 
Filled mine last week to brim and ran for a week and refilled to brim, worked out getting 35 mpg not bad for 3.0 Ltr Di which has now done 127k so yours should be better than what you listed.
 
I found a piston binding/sticking on my O/S front caliper...
It was all I could do to turn the wheel by hand, so that certainly was not helping.
 
As a matter of interest, is the 3.0 engine a stroked version of the 2.7 or a completely different engine?
 
completely different AFAIK.
16 valves
direct injection
........ and probably lots of uver stuff..
 
try changing the lambda sensor, made a big difference to mine, Rick

didnt think urs a 2003 terrano had auto hubs thought it was fixed hubs what about the rear drums they r not sticking on slightly.
