Well its one thing that the turbo died but the repairs have been a nightmare.

Firstly it a whole new Turbo
The bolts on the manifold sheared off, then they could not drill them out as they were so hard so a new manifold has been ordered, and to top it off the Gasket set from Nissan was over £100 8O

Holy mackerel batman! I mean how much???

Well it has to be done or I have £5K's worth of scrap!

same style thing happened to my car, Started as a gearbox linkage (£200 sorted) then clutch might as well get done as its out, then flywheel, then clutch hose all in all £200 turned into almost £1000, Then you think its over and done with and hopefully you'll not need to do that again.

(just something else will go next  nut thats cars i suppose!)

Bad luck fella,i find most garages tend to break things which end up costing more and more they simply dont take the time, care and attention these older vehicles need i know things go wrong for everybody but given enough time theres ways round evrything

and to top it off the Gasket set from Nissan was over £100
which gaskets did you need then??

not nice is it? i've spent far to much on my engine already
and now my turbo needs replacing/repairing too.

if you dont mind, what did your turbo cost?and were from?

i been quoted £250+vat for repair but would have removal
and install cost on that if i cant be bothered doing it myself.

and another place said £550 for a brand new one and £150 to
fit it.

been driving round for a bit now with no worries but the oil
is leaking a bit more now

The gasket is expensive as they could only get it from Nissan, Its the one that joins the manifold to the turbo and then to the engine.

I have had to have a brand new turbo due to the fact they would not exchange it with my old one. The fan blade that broke off totally knackered the whole turbo unit. That cost me £600, as i am intending to keep the car I thought go get a new one, if I was selling her I would get a second hand one off ebay and even then they want £250

Then there is the cost of the manifold and fitting, I suspect its going to cost me the best part of £1200 8O

I guess its worth it as its a 2001 car and only got 60K on the clock, but it hurts the wallet like hell  and Nissan are being slow in getting the parts my mate needs.

Well you have to laugh or you go nuts.

ouch!!! mine should come off ok as it was off recentley
when engine was out. best get my finger out hey?

cheers for the figs, i know its not same motor, should
be similar tho. will get some prices
