Front wishbone bump stops

So whilst at ricks we noticed my custom bump stops had fallen off, it was a piece of exhaust mount :augie

We had a look and found a hole for what should be a bump stop locating hole for perhaps a nut and bolt. So we went to one of the scrappers there and found a rubber bump stop, tried to get fingers underneath to no avail, after much struggling we decided to pry it, this was when we found it just screws/pops in the hole

So after fitting these on mine, lowering the truck back down... We realised my arms must be custom as the underside of them is hollow... The bump stop just gets lost inside it... :doh

Any suggestions for some heavy duty universal screw in alternative?

My cvs are at stake here :lol

Are we talking upper or lower :nenau
Uppers are a rubber dome that just presses into the chassis and my lowers are bolted through the lower wishbone. Mine need replacing on the lower as the rubber Is coming away from the steel mounting plate.

upper and on Alex motor there is no infill on the arm with a bulge down to contact the rubber so does he have aftermarket upper wishbones or are the rubbers different on 04 and on, Rick

A picture paints a thousand words... this is the bump stop on a 1999, I take it from what Rick says, Alex does not have the down facing bulge for the stop to push against...

We now need the same shot but of an 04 T2.

I have aftermarket top arms by Calmini but they have a special tag on them to contact the bump stop.

you seem to have too much confidence in an MOT, i don't think having no bump stops is a fail.

Technically only the rear ones count on the T2 as they're meant to be a spring assistors too. Then again, how many testers would know that ?

I guess if they can see a difference from side to side they might notice...

I guess the rear ones could be spring assisters, as this is where most of the weight is taken, if you fill the vehicle to the max gross weight.

So, getting back to my original point a bit, anyone got any ideas for some bad man bump stops? ideally with a rubber locator underneath that would pop in the hole, oo err :naughty

Can you get to the back of them? if you can, then you could get the sort that have a stud out the back, and just run a nut up the back to fix it in place.

Yes you can, with great difficulty.

Where are those from?

they are really the wrong shape though something oblong shaped would help in my situation given the hollow underside :doh

I'm sure you could buy some extra long ones that will do the trick.
Very tight getting a nut up into the chassis to hold the rubber on.
When I broke one of my uppers I put a big screw with a 10 mm hex head bolt through the hole in the chassis and screwed the rubber back down onto it.
Was very awkward to get a spanner in the hole to hold the screw in place while I fastened on the bump stop.
Could you not fit one in the recess on your upper arm to compensate for hollow part.
Drill a hole in it and bolt it through:nenau

There not custom jobs Alex it's another Nissan balls up they did on the MK4's like the axle change & the plastic fuel tank gaurd:doh just been out to check mine with a torch & they are the same & the only bump stops fitted are for upwards travel:augie

Only bump stops on the front are to stop the bottom arms going upwards to far but nothing for the downward travel of the top arms. No idea about the mounting holes as it's to cold & dark out there to check:lol but they are prob there like yours as I don't think Nissan changed that part from when the R20 first went into production they just started skimping badly from late 03/early 04:doh If you really want them I think you'll have to find some correct bump stops & fit top arms from a pre 2003 with the plate for the stops to make contact with or have plates welded onto your arms:augie Mine will stop as it is as that's to much hassle for me to have a bit of rubber that will fall off at some stage in fact not sure if both of my lower ones are still there:nenau

Why would you need a bump stop for the downward travel anyway? Does the shock not limit the amount of droop?
