hello all, the front windscreen wipers on my nissan terrano (2.7 td 2003) stopped working when I was driving home the other day. The fuse hasnt gone and I can still hear a noise when I switch them on they just dont move. Anyone have any ideas where the fault might be and how I could fix it? Thanks, Rob S

If the wiper motor is still working I'd guess the wiper linkage has probably gone? :nenau

If you remove the windscreen scuttle panel you'll get access but that's all I can tell you as I've never done it on my Trol let alone a Terrano!

The linkage is a push fit on the ball that works the wiper, usually the plastic socket wears and the arm falls off the ball, a temporary fix is a couple of cable ties, another possible cause is the arm works loose on the motor and falls off, Rick

On my Maverick years ago, I'd left the window wipers on the night before a massive freeze and snowfall.

I jumped in the truck the next morning and switched the igntion on and the wipers tried to move, because they were stuck to the screen the linkage ended up spinning the splines on the wiper arms which then had to be replaced.

I know it's not been cold enough for this to happen to you but I thought I'd share the experience.

If you can still hear the motor moving and there's no movement at the wipers themselves, I reckon Barrbeast is on the money here and it's going to be the linkage died :(

I think I sold my last good one but I can have a look in my spares if you like to see if I do have one :nenau

thanks for the replies, just had another look and also tried the wipers on my old terrano which I've kept for spares. The wipers still work on that one and I also noticed that as well as making a noise the motor moves a bit when the wipers are on which doesnt happen on my current terrano. Wondering if that might indicate anything such as a fault with the motor?

The motor is rubber mounted so will move a little, your current one not moving indicates it is not connected to the wiper arms, Rick

Yes just remove the plastic panel below the windscreen and then the two cover plates and you will have access to the linkage, if you have working ones on your scrapper just swap them over, Rick
