Noticed a few bubbles under the paint around the front wheel arch plastic trim so popped one off and its grim in there. Better get on it quick before I lose the whole guard to the tin worm.

I don't have a mig so can't really diy it so was thinking of getting replacement wheel arches fitted. I can probably get them cut and welded locally and finish off the filler/paint etc myself.

My question is are they available and where from?

Yep...
I have mentioned this a few times on here over the years, by the time you see the first spider leg under the paint, appear above the plastic trim, the rust has already got a foot hold. :doh
At this point, you can generally hide the repair under the trim.
However, if there are bubbles, then there is already a hole, and the damage will be much worse.

Far better to remove the plastic trim occasionally, just a few pozidrive screws, into a nylon insert, clean out the mud, rust treat and waxoyl. Good for a few more years.:thumb2

Prevention is better than cure.
BUT takes time and effort.:thumb2

Yeah, someone on here has had there truck for more than 19 years...... just can't think of the name :augie:augie:augie

Agreed about the prevention but what about the arch as it is now. Under the plastic moulding there is a hole so I need to sort that then I can look after them for another 18 years. This sort of sneaked up on me.

Not worth replacing the guard at the moment as its only the arch but the most cost effective way of doing it is my problem.

Put some pictures up, depending on the hole size and where it is on the wing will determine what needs doing

Holes should be easier as the wing is not structural as such, but if the folded edge has gone, then a bit more work required.

The problem is finding the good metal to be able to work with.
If small, I would go with mesh and plastic padding..
I've done a few wings in my earlier days of motoring, one 1976 Toyota was less than three years old when the tops of the wing rotted through...:doh that's why I do more prevention now.

Nissan never gave the go ahead for copy steel panels or repair panels to be made for the T2:doh so it's a case of make your own or S/H parts:augie
