looking for some ideas here :) vibration coming from front through the steering wheel at 60 mph .. had front wheels balanced , but still the same ,, any suggestions ?

It could be a few things link play in your track rod ends, steering idler. I had the same prob at the same speed & it was that one of my was starting to distort  so I would check your tyres incase who ever balanced them has missed it

ok buddy thanks -cheers- i will check them and let u know

I also had the same problem several years ago with mine. It had a faulty tyre, it had a bulge in one side of it.

How about swapping wheels around and see if it makes any difference. Also try putting your spare on one front wheel in turn and see if you can identfy a faulty wheel or tyre from that.

I've also had the same problem for the past 6 months, after having the MOT on the car and changed the front tyre it came out with an excessive wobble, have had the car totally stripped down mechanically and its sound, have also taken the car back several times to check on the balancing and thats fine but the wobble is still there, so I've decided myself that I will travel no faster than 55mph

I had this, and only at certain speeds.... it turned out the wheel bearings on the front had play in them, had them tightened and it disappeared :)

wheel wobble

i have the same wobble at about 50 mph.if i speed up to 60mph it stops.have had new tyres, had them balanced, tracking done, bearings checked still not sorted so the next step is to change the bushes then have it tracked up again.will let you know the out come.

thank you all .. im gonna try out everything and jim both tyres are new 2 weeks ago buddy i have had balance and tracking done will check bearings tomorrow.......... [ hell 2 weeks off work and im spending all my spare time on my t2 lol wife not happy :p ]

My faulty tyre was new :( , it was a Bridgestone. I had to pay for a new one whilst that was sent back to factory for testing.

Jim

Hi again Jim.
What a senseless answer that was from Bridgestone, bet you were impressed  Hope you got a refund.

Any Conclusions on this?? my motor was fine untill yesterday, a mate was gettin rid of his T2, offered me all 5 new wheels and tyres.. now im getting vibration on steering wheel from 50mph to 60mph then it gone again, but anywhere in this range and the vibration there. i didnt have this problem before i changed the wheels.

won't be tracking cos it only did it with the new wheels.

Could be balance or a buckled wheel, dodgy tyre....process of elimination is the only way.....put your old ones back on the front first see what happens...
