Apologies if this has already been covered, but as this is more for info' I don't feel too guilty........

My Terrano's had an appalling 'graunching' noise on full lock for the last couple of weeks, & after trawling about for some info on it I discovered it's a simple matter of greasing the steering bump stops!

One at the front of the arm, and one at the rear. Apparently there's a plastic cap that wears through, too?

I'm jsut extremely pleased it was such a simple fix. Hopefully this will maybe help any other newbie Terrano owners? :thumb2

never greased mine, just ease off from full lock = no noise, Rick

Was the first problem I encountered on my Maverick mate and I poo'd myself thinking it was something expensive lol, thank god for my £10 membership

I brought some either M12 or M10 plastic caps from eBay and removed the old damaged ones and smacked a load of grease on the top of them and they are still going strong :thumb2

Heh heh heh. It's just really nice to find such a simple solution to an issue that sounded so nasty. If I'd heard that sort of noise from my Freelander it'd have been brown-trousers time........

Most of the fixes on our vehicles are fairly straight forward, some very cheap, some free, apart from a bit of time.
No special tools are required, and big hammers not usually needed:augie

The most important thing, is the collective knowledge on this site.
We know more than all the Nissan dealers put together :thumb2

That's the beauty with a vehicle that's been on the go for a few years! You end up with a collection of owners that have had to deal with the foibles of the vehicle over a period of time without just sending it into the dealer for an electronic doctor & a 'replace module if faulty' diagnosis............

And it's a testament to the fact it was designed and built properly in the first place! :thumb2
