FWIW, [FONT=Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial]My thoughts regarding later model Terrano front prop failures......
The front prop setup on the Terrano is probably very similar, if not identical to a live front axle arrangement,... as in the Patrol?
On the Terrano the gearbox is nailed to the chassis as is the front diff, so unlike a live front axle, there is very little movement other than that allowed by the resilient mounts.
With such a small potential for movement, the wear pattern on the “plastic” coating will be concentrated on a very limited area, unlike the live axle variant where the spline can be expected to move far more and subsequently distribute the wear over a greater area.
The earlier (grease-nippled) models featured steel on steel, with ability to lube, and would appear accommodate the concentrated wear far better than the plastic coated spline....

This might explain why mine front prop uj was seized in one direction, still it was enough to cause a bad squeak :thumb2

New prposhaft from Milners has arrived and looks a nice quality bit of kit, 3 grease nipples. Fitted a treat, job sorted! :thumb2
