Steering groans / juddrs ?

Have you checked your power steering fluid & the belt tension?

Almost all cars make terrible sounds if the surface is extra grippy such as inside tile car showrooms, tiled floors in workshops. Some forcourts if they are paved rather than tarmac can cause strange sounds especially if they have been recently degreased.

Is it "thee penny bit steering" you are experiencing due to LSD or similar tripping in one of our Jeeps does it when on almost full lock.

Just my thoughts

thanks

Its something else to ask to be checked belt and fluid yeah steering stops sound bad when dry and all differant surface i am good normally at checking but getting older and its a heavy so just feel if my garage put in air let it drop he should feel any movment £40 if nothing found but hopefully checks done and he will do front pads if needed Thanks because we are the chaps that no more than some machanics about 2T but he as the equipment more than me For looking

Mercedes new A class tyre hopping problems

When I worked at the MB dealership lots of customers complained of loud suspension knock noises when on full lock. It was blamed on the low profile tyres at the time struggling for grip!

Many had full sets of tyres replace under warranty for free!!

I mention this out of interest in that you can pay £36k for a new Mercedes and have terrible sounds from the steering!!

I am guessing you have fixed front hubs so your front drive shafts will be turning all the time, if you have any drive chain issues this will be your problem, try removing the front hubs (six nuts each side and a circlip), if your noise stops then it is confirmed, if going on holls then fabricate some kind of cover over the exposed shaft to keep the dust out and sort it on your return, keep the hubs with you should you need 4 wheel, Rick

Brian, obviously I can’t do a great deal at the moment but certain I can remove your fixed hubs for you to test Ricks theory as don’t need to jack car up. Happy to ride shot gun for a test drive and even compare with mine too.
If you’re interested feel free to drop me a PM and we can arrange something as we are not that far apart.

Thanks

Thanks for replys
