Chaster hasn't got auto hubs, Nissan deleted them later on in production and just fitted drive flanges.
This is exactly what Isuzu did with the MKIV Trooper. In the end, they decided that the freewheel hubs were more bother than they were worth. It also allowed the switch-on-the-fly into 4wd to operate at up to 60mph.
I know that many folks believe that having fixed hubs rather than free-wheel increases fuel consumption - but does anyone actually have any real evidence that this is the case?
