Front end still rattling over bumps!

Following on from a previous thread,my Mistral is fine over large bumps but on small potholes/uneven surfaces it makes a rattling noise from the front wheel area.I thought it was the anti-roll bar/drop links so i replaced all these with new uprated poly bushes and new good quality links.This needed doing anyway as the old stuff was totally sh@*ged!

Goes without saying,the handling is now far better but i'm still getting this annoying rattle,i can't see anything loose underneath,any ideas?

brake pads? you have the shims in to stop rattling pad?

its strange that , i always get a annoying noise what ever car im driving ..... seems to come from the passenger side :augie

I think I also suggest the anti rattle clips. without them, your pads will certainly rattle, more noticeable at lower speeds/bumpy roads. I had the same issue on my mazda, as soon as I replaced the anti rattle clips, bingo.

what you will find is that garages wont bother replacing the anti rattle clips when they do your pads, they just leave the old ones on and they get bent/worn, so dont hold the pads in place properly.

Anti roll bar bushes and drop links (so far gone they fell to bits when i showed them a spanner)

One tyre sidewall worn right through to the canvas all the way round

Oh - good tip about the rattle clips,i'll check it out tomorrow!

I could kick myself sometimes,i've bought loads of cars but never before on a whim with a raging hangover.I have sorted most of the issues now and love my truck and am tempted to visit the garage that gave the ticket,but have been through a similar issue before and it just wasn't worth the hassle.Had a full day on it today,just got to do an oil change,silly question,i've just had a quick look under the hood but couldn't see the filter,is it underneath,above the sump guard?

if you look, the filter is right down the bottom, you can see it through the wheel arch, i think its easier to just take the wheel off, wheel arch cover and get at it that way....thats passenger side....

the oil filter is on the left of the engine as you were sat in drivers seat!! just below exhuast manifold....thats ware mine is on both my trucks!

I was also gonna suggest, make sure your skid plate is properly bolted in place and not loose...

Hi OK,
Best way I've found to change the filter is to take the NSF wheel off, remove the splash guard between chassis and inner wing. A strong grip or specialist tool should see the filter rotate off. Beware cheap filters tho, the seal on the top tends to compress and leak oil giving the impression that there is a serious problem, which in a sense, there is........ depending on the age of yours, I may well know somewhere to get a lens......... mate of mine runs a 4x4 place selling second hand jap cars......

i tried that mate with the truck i bought from fleabay ..... the guy said the crack in the windscreen which goes from post to post along the bottom of the screen isnt a mot failure because its not in the drivers field of vision ..... strange innit ? :nenau

its just below that diagram , but running all along the bottom , so i guess it aint a failure :nenau
