Hi all,

attempted to change the front drop links on my truck at the weekend. Ended up have to cut one of them off as the allen key wouldn't locate as it was full of corrosion etc etc.

I'm ok with that but when i tried to fit the new ones (sourced from milners) there was no allen key slot, too late to stop to gave it a go and went ahead trying to fit them. Unfortunately the nut with nyloc wont go far enough on to lock it off solidly and the arm which goes the roll bar to the swivel is just turning. Bugger.

Anyone got a reliable source of drop links which have the requisite allen key slot? And also which don't look as though they've been welded by a blind cobbler??

many thanks.

Alec.

Hi, I'mafraid I can't help you with this problem, but could you put the details of the part and the problem on the "sticky" post for this sort of problem, so that others can refer to it.

You'll find it under:

Technical:General none specific...:Black List.

Could you not hold it above with a pair of mole grips

I had this problen the last time i fitted stock ones and then discovered that If you look at the other end of the threaded bit, just in front of the rubber boot there is a couple of flats you can get a thin open ended spanner onto.

I must have fitted a few sets of these and only discovered that myself the last time I pulled a set off to replace with rose joints :naughty

LOL, glad its not just me then! I was thinking i'd become a complete biff in my old age!!

I tried the mole grip method but to no avail, i'll have a look once i get chance to see if there are any flats, hopefully there are but that'll mean i'll have to grind one of my spanners down, ah well!!

cheers all.

I was lucky, I have a cheap and nasty set of open ended ones I purchased when I first started working on cars. First thing I discovered was that cheap spanners hurt knuckles... but they are narrower than "Good" spanners and over the years have got me out of a lot of trouble...

Milners must have changed their supplier because I got a pair in August for my project truck, they had the alan key hole. Try giving Milners a call to see if they can offer advice or replacements.

This is not the first time that Milners have provided droplinks that are difficult to fit. A year or two back, some were sold that didn't have enough of an off set on them when correctly assembled, they should be as vertical as possible and perpendicular to the anti roll bar. :nenau
