how difficult is it to remove one, cant find anyone on hear who has replaced one.

Have removed a few from ones ive broken but not from complete car why do you need to remove it, unusual for them to break

i think mines gone it.s very strange when you drive its like going over a lump of wood severe bang coming from front nearside, took it up the garage and he said dunno keep driving it until it breaks, very helpfull he was, but he did say didnt think it was transfer box , and also put in 4 wheel its ok

Whoa nelly
It's not your diff, probably a sticking auto hub OR are you driving around in 4wd on the tarmac :augie
He's a twat by the way don't go back there without a turd in a bag for him :doh

No not auto hubs have stripped them the sound is coming from underneath , its like i have a 4x2timber stuck to nearside tyre

doubtfull it the diff

drop link, arb bushes, upper or lower ball joint what ever it is it wont be the diff

have done drop links and arb bushes not them but ball joints might be a possibility any idea how i would check them
still doubtful as passed mot 2 weeks ago they should have picked that up

cheers for the info i`m running out of ideas

Well I'd check again then. Get underneath and check you can turn the half shafts by hand. They should turn freely

then again maybe i will check them again tomorrow , take the nearside one off and run it down the road see if the noise stops, cant hurt taking one off can it

ball joints seem more likley

drop link, arb bushes, upper or lower ball joint what ever it is it wont be the diff

mine passed its mot with a broken drop link and worn arb bushes but failed on corroded brake pipes, when i cut out the so call corroded pipe it wasnt badly corroded.

jack the front up get a pri bar under the wheel and lift it up and see if there is any play

That's cool just undo the 6 bolts and watch out for any spring loaded surprises :D

BIG BIG THANK YOU, i had to try it took the auto hub off and what you know smooth as you like, can see nothing wrong with the hub looks like new, but its a pile of crap,

cheers guys the garage was ready to strip out the diff tomorrow , what do they know

i am now £300.00 +better off thanks to some people that really know whats what

You may have put the snap ring in wrong. Checkout the manuals for detailed assembly instructions. The auto hubs are pretty damn good if assembled right and the snap/break ring is ok.

I was going to say, have a look underneath in case a piece of 4x2 timber was stuck underneath, you never know. :nenau

More like a piece of 4x4....:lol:lol

yes cheers i may have put the ring in upside down , but it,s just a relief to find out whats wrong , i always had ideas but you people guided me in the right direction when the garage sent me thinking in totaly the wrong direction , trouble is you trust the garage, lesson learnt

off to have a cider your good health cheers

This tends to be a Nissan main dealer part, but don't forget Ford dealers can supply parts too.
Sometimes cheaper than Nissan, but arrive in Nissan bags :doh

i work at a ford dealer and the parts only list the hole hub assy at nearly 600 quid each so manual ones were the better option
