Hi all can anyone supply me with drawings or measurements for the front panel lower cross member repair that people have made.

Looks like I'm keeping both the trucks and this panel has worried me for a while now, not had the bumper off yet but a fellow club member has offered to go through the car and weld everything up that could possibly need doing again. So we are going to keep it running :clap

So help with drawings and measurements would be great so that we can make the panel up ready.

That's exactly why we are thinking about building a panel first before removing the bumper.

Your better off knowing what your dealing with, whip it off ;)

expose it all cut out the rot and fabricate as you go, is the way forward on this, Rick

i agree
i`ve done 2 of these and until you get the bumper off and cut the rot out you wont know what you`ll need

We are stuck with the old one for a few weeks whilst plates get transferred and the wifes Polo uses just as much fuel as a truck so we are thinking along the lines of get this sorted and sell the Polo.

peasgood i did not want to see that:lol:lol:lol

i will be doing jims bus but as its about 10/12 mile each way to jim's house i wanted to fabricate as much as i could at work..

not so easy in the drive with limited tools and much better if its 1 day rather than 2..

im hopeing jims just got some flakey paint and nothing more:D

Good work :thumb2 Mine was like that 4 years ago but obviously I didn't go high enough
Old x member cut out

A decent one cut off a scrapper and welded back in

Then 4 years on the next level up needed doing :doh

and eventually patched up again :)

It's proximity to the ruddy body mount is the big pain.

If its the 05 one there is a replacement panel available.

When it did mine a couple of years ago I used a piece of 80mm x 40mm x approx 1mtr box section and just shaped the ends up so the bumper didn't rub on the metalwork, that worked fine and the MOT tester said that will last the truck out!!
