Hi all,

Looking from front bumper mounts, ie the metal bracket. Mine are completely rusted through.....if any kind person might have a couple spare i'd quite happily take them off your hands for a quid or two!!

many thanks.

Alec.

Might be part of the front bumper reinforcement which is heavy! Take a look at my project thread, link at the bottom of my post and you'll see what it looks like as it was one of the first parts I repaired.
Might get one from a breakers yard but I reckon much older than ten years old and they'll rotting. Might be better fixing yourself.

I got a minter from James recently, wire brushed it down with a drill and hammeritted it :thumb2 :thumb2

Should last a while I reckon :naughty :naughty

Not sure that's mine mate, don't recognise the gravel or brickwork lol, maybe MadMark?

Yeah in that case then get it swapped ASAP as that's what holds it to the car!!!!!

oops, yes sorry its from jims-terrano project. apologies.

probably just be easier to get a whole new bumper assembly?

It doesn't hold the whole thing to the car.

You could look at finding a good condition one but they are rare, probably very expensive new from nissan.

Know anyone who can weld?

Haha see youve found my project and seen the state of mine. Theres a guy in Sweden or Germany on here who reconstrcted his completely, drilled the spot welds and made a exact replica. Hard work but great repair much better than mine.

I take the blame! If you have access to a laser cutter or something similar you can have a look at my thread. Think I made them out of 2mm steel plate. I might even be able to find the DWG's for them.

i replaced both front wings and welded up cross panel and both bumper mounts cut from a tumble dryer housing, surprisingly thick steel.

Am I right in thinking, the purpose of this outrigger is to support the lower edge of a plastic bumper?
If so it doesn't need to be this shape does it?

A bit of dexion, a few bolts angle grind a bit here and there surely sorted...
For those unaware... Dexion is big boys Meccano lol.
Could even use angle aluminium a few cross braces, with a few bolts..

Or have I missed something here...:nenau

Good idea!! Will look at that when warmer out side!

... note, I had reckon shelves in my bedroom. Back in the 1970's lol

Rustic is correct, it does not need to be that shape, just a chunk of metal to support the bumper tail, Rick

I can see some metal chair or table legs coming under the big hammer lol...

Or how about some 22 or 28 mm copper pipes, a few 45 degree yorkshire elbows...say doubled up side by side... not sure this would be strong enough, but you get my drift.
Steel gas pipe might be better lol.
