Just undo all the bolts, there is one at the bottom that you have to open the door to see and a couple underneath at the back of the wing. (on a square headlamp version)
The headlamp kind of clips into the wing as well, just pull that off. Front bumper needs to come off.
Some seam sealant in places (nearest the bulkhead) which I found a scraper pushed in will release.
All above is for square headlamp version, don't know about others.

As for painting the rust bits, once it is cleaned up wipe a rag of Kurust over it and let dry before doing the paint. Don't use a brush to apply the Kurust as it just makes a mess. Don't get it on your hands either unless you want purple hands.

Hi all, removed plastic trim as was suggested and I think i can repair rusty edge without removing wing, here are photos of rust damage

woah,...thats surprising....hope mines not that bad....!!

Hi all,

I shall get some Kurust tomorrow and kill the rust then i'll fabricate the bit thats rusted away and mig it in place, fill it then paint it over with primer ready to put on top coat, thats the theory anyhow and then do other side , i will take more photos as work progresses

Hi all,
Started to repair wheel arch, the more I scraped the more I realised that a temporary repair would have to do until I aquire rust free wings if poss, here are more photos.I bought some Krust and wiped that on as suggested, could not use mig as the metal/rust was to thin so I had to pop rivet metal into place then filler between existing metal and new. sprayed with primer and hand painted top coat, a total bodge I agree but it will see me through the winter so I can search for other wings, so if you know where there are wings or wing any colour I'd be very grateful.

rustygates.

Are you being sponsored by Morrisons?:lol

The problem with the arch guards and the mud flaps is that they trap mud and normal road dirt, unless you regularly clean /hose from the back, the first time you realise there is a problem is when the first bubble appears on the wing, by then it is often too late to save it.
I have removed these and waxoyled behind years ago, so I may have another look just in case.
The other problem is the rubber covers under the front wheel arches, could this be a reason why inner wings and the bumper mounts get the tin worm?
In the spring, I will remove the front bumper and do something about the front brackets, they have a few blisters on them.:eek::eek:

Wow I found some minor rust and the vehicle is nearly 16 years OLD:doh
