Good evening, decided to take the plunge and join fully so greetings from me and my 1998 2.7tdi terrano2, its been a rocky start to the relationship some of which has been resolved and others not hence the post and gentle request for assistance. After sorting the clutch issues i had (a bust master cylinder that did'nt leak!) i have moved on to a water leak which seems to come from underneath the intake manifold goes down the block and out onto the sump, slowly getting worse using more water. Can't figure out at the moment what there is on that side that could be letting it out, any ideas?

Four possibilities, heater pipes, thermostat housing, head gasket, core plug, cannot think of anything else that side, Rick

welcome

front or back of the engine?

front water pump..

back.. um pass

Thanks, yep had a good luck at download, think i can rule out thermostat housing as i does'nt appear to be tracking from that area its further back. Think i will take off intercooler for look at pipes, what are the implications of head gasket going? there are no symptons that i would associate with blown head gasket other than water useage no gas/bubbles, no white smoke, no deposits, and it is running fine. Unless the block/head has been breached to the waterway but not the cylinders or oilway, have not had her long so unsure of history but think it might have been stood for a while.

under the inter cooler there are the two pipes for the cab heater

Got them on my radar, really hope it is something related to them but preparing for worst

Jubilee clips on old pipes require tightening from time to time, as the pipes compress and eventually leak, more when hot and under pressure.

best regards,

Rustic
