still dont answer the orignal question,was my/our thread that got locked so offensive it needed locking and is the list of jokes so safe/pc its ok?

If you want to see true autocracy in action go see that caravan forum that was mentioned somewhere on here. Its so bad its even got its own why was i kicked off face book page :D:D:D

Trust me this place is self regulating to a massive degree and pretty liberal.

Thats probably why individuals get so up tight when threads are kicked into touch.

If I was asked to look at some of the recent activity on here in a professional capacity (and trust me i havent) I consider a lot of posts to be very close to unacceptable if not already there. You are not safe just because theres a length of fibre optic cable separating you from your actions. You are fully accountable and I can tell you based on current policies there are people on here who could and i stress could have found themselves deep in it.

The "official side" on here dealt appropriately and proportionately with the problems. The double edge for that sword is you have now been warned and that gives more weight to any further potential actions.

This latest one had all the signs and tha basic feel of heading the same way. Maybe it would have, maybe it wouldn't have, who cares, but no one knew.

Therfore , it would appear on the basis of prevention rather than cure something was done about it. If that has stopped degeneration into inappropriate exchanges the decision was a good one.

If the thread wasnt offensive but still closed the decison to do so seems to have been one based on good intentions so again a good decision.

There is absolutely nothing to gain by whinging on except driving members away.


I have no problem at all with the individuals who are involved in this , in fact i have high regard for many......no change that to some :augie of their posts but please shut the **** up before you either get booted or drop yourself in it :thumb2

I would rephrase your question and ask for guidance, if BATs list doesnt cover it to somthing like "can we have some guidance on what is decent"

It would be sad because its inferring we have a less responsible attitude than a 10 year old .

On a personal basis stop banging your head against the wall. Get back to posting interesting stuff and if you feel hard done by in the future make a note and "compile your case"

Two uses for that. Firstly you will have a stronger case if your grievance is genuine. secondly and far more important people under scrutiny (not paranoid oppresion) tend to be better at self regulating. It means many of us wont change but those of us who are a bit shall we say close to being a problem may think twice before hitting the keyboard.

This sort of thing goes on anyway but hey go for it :nenau

What if I see something offensive?

You will find 'Report' links in many places throughout the board. These links allow you to alert the board staff to anything which you find to be offensive, objectionable or illegal.

Jace read the definitions on the link supplied by 'Lacroupade' and closing the thread did 'you' a favour. If anyone were ever to take real offence and make some sort of "case" out of this, it would be you in the dock - and there is plenty of other threads to show that people had done their best to explain this, over, and over, and over again.

This type of stuff always leads to the same old trouble, which reflects badly on the club in general - and on some members in particular.

i think everyone must be thick skinned or someone wouldve had the jokes section shut down,seing as they havent we must use that as a standard as to how far we can go! so muslims being thretend with pork,indians on standby etc etc all quite aceptable yes/no?

there wasnt though bat,no one was being rude/racist/personal to anyone and it got closed???? it left me confused as to why especialy as there is far more offensive material left to run,leaves a chap feeling anoyed!!!
 
typing this stuff is clumsy, if we meet up at some point we will have to go through it over a drink and sort it all out :thumb2

In the mean time, just don't worry about it mate, it's just not worth it :)

perhaps if everything else was as remotely funny, and a smirk doesnt have to cause
offense unlike some of the bollocks peddled here, that is unless its even drier humour
than mine, and that takes some doing.

reasons have been given, in this thread and original, I'm not going through it again as I
many other members have spelt it out since page 4, think now on page 8.

blimey if only could talk trucks to this degree what a site this could be!
 
in laymans terms compared to the racist/sexist/homaphobic jokes how was my thread so bad it needed to be closed or is the language/inferences in jokes section aceptable for forum use?
