looking there, also a nice water sptay for an intercooler ...

Thought I would resurrect an old thread as it seems no one has gone down the serious water methanol route. Although do correct me if I am wrong.

Don't be suckered into buying any rotary pump system as they lack psi and suffer from lag as they come up to pressure. Plus why spend crazy amounts of money when you can build something far superior for around £65.

Might sound like crazy madness but I built and ran one for years after coming across a how to on an Australian petrol heads type website if I remember correctly. The key is to use a vibratory pump so full pressure is almost instantaneous and these things are a fraction of the price of a comparable output rotary one.

Slight downside for some, vibratory pumps require AC current so you are going to be running 240v under the bonnet from a small inverter. Sure I got a jolt from it once or twice especially with wet hands which made me jump but hey it wasn't that bad. Second slight downside is if you are going hardcore, which is the easiest option, you spray directly onto the fins of the turbo which over time can cause fin erosion and reduction in efficiency. Ran mine however for about 4 years with no visible wear or performance decrease.

A suitable pump can be found inside an espresso coffee machine, new on eBay for about £10-15, injector bought from diesel furnace manufacturers at about £35 depending on spray pattern, small inverter £10, pressure switch relay and tubing and you're done.

Well worth the effort big performance gain particularly in the summer and keeps the engine coke free.

I will try and find the original website but if not I did a short write up on another 4x4 forum if anyone is interested.Regards

Seems like the original website no longer exists, which e think was autospeed.com. Shame as it was full of really cool projects like remapping your Speedo to read correctly for oversized tyres and other essential weekend hacks

i used to make my own model plane fuel and every now and then would put it in my 175 bantam, wow it flew of off the line and showed up a lot of the big bikes.
i used to get the methanol from a chemist who wondered why a had so much of it and caster oil.

Yeh I'd like to know more, sounds interesting bud :thumb2
If you didn't know, makeitfit installed an lpg injection kit to squirt lpg in with the diesel!

Unfortunately the original and very detailed website is no more and my original right up relied all to heavily on it as references. I will have a further hunt and see what is still out there.

Yes I saw that makeitfit had done a gas mod. I had a play with it and found a big boost but in the end ditched it because I couldn't face fitting the tank. I had been running off a propane cylinder under the bonnet for test purposes only, obviously. ;)

To get you started the pump is an ulka, lots on eBay. The variable pressure sensor I will have to look up.
The preferred diesel nozzle is the very fine hollow cone spray type if spraying directly onto turbo. However I just went with normal solid cone as they were cheaper and at the time available to be posted out quicker. As stated I found no detriment to the fins but blade erosion will be dependent on just how much liquid you are pumping. I had mine set so that it pumped when driving with a heavy foot, not all the time.

First version I built had a washing machine pressure gauge but this being a diaphragm type was not very robust. I am still trying to find the setup which I have boxed away somewhere, so that I can identify the variable pressure sensor that replaced it.
