My Dad's little run about bought for £40 as it was damaged when the previous owner hit a raised manhole. We replaced the front subframe, steering rack & gearbox casing via local scrap metal yard. My Dad drove it for another 4 years before we sold it for a profit to someone who wanted the bonnett.

Lastly when my Dad & I went to Cyprus sometime around 1991 we saw the village school bus it was like new!! That's a younger me (43) with less hair posing with the Bedford.

Old pics can be a mind bender yea, I got hundreds, fear to look sometimes, Rick

Some more pictures - that survived the fire as negatives mostly.

These are a few more photos that I spent hours scanning on a little Novotek Camera/Scanner. Some quality is not great. Can't find any photos of our Manta GT/E of Toyota Mk1 MR2 T bar at present.

Below is my old Yamaha XJ 900F bought in 1995 sold in 2009 as I could no longer get it onto the centre stand.

Below is my first Mini 850 SFA 782 it was plain red when purchased in 1965/6 later it gained the Gold top section & matt black bonnet when they were all the rage!

My little Bond owned in 1968/9 the seal between the steel front bulkhead / windscreen frame would always leak water where the glass fibre roof joined the top of the front windscreen. No silicone in those days so used Dum-Dum as a sealant!

This is a Opel Kadett City purchased as a second car sometime around 1985. The interior fell apart due to uV degradation - mechanically sound though.

Our first of two Cavaliers this one was a 1300 4 speed bought it in 1986 but due to illness I feared for my job security when being treated for Hodgkin's Lymphoma so sold it in 1987 at a small gain!

One of my Company Cars back in 1978/9 a Colt Sigma 1600 - very smooth balance shaft engine.

I went to the GTM was Cox factory - a farm building in Notts to buy one of these - hated the upside down gear shift they had on the early versions - decided quite sensibly to buy a used MR2 instead. The guy who built them died a quite a lot of years ago at a not very old age.

My Dads run around at the time when he was in the car trade some sort of sporty Hillman (if there is such a beast) Hillman Avenger Tiger I think.

My Mercedes Estate Car Circa 2005 I loved it until I got stuck when fishing at Mapperley Reservoir one January after a snow fall of about 1.5 mm. That made me get my fist 4x4.

This is what I replaced the above vehicle with a one owner 300TE 4-matic.

My Cooper S in Rootes Lagoon Blue on right posing with my Mates 998 Cooper in Rolls Royce Regal Red. Parked on Wilson Avenue in Clowne outside old Police House. Wish I had it now worth quite a lot of dosh today for a Mk 1 S. The photo was taken in 1972/3.

Excellent photos. I have had a lot of Opel's, Ascona and Manta B's mainly but always hankered after a Kadette Coupe. Seeing your photo reminds me I bought an early 1300 Astra off a neighbour to run around in about '95/6 and I think it was a V reg saloon with the wee boot lid like the Kadette SR from memory. Rot free super tidy little car, sold cheap to my brother and that was it's demise. I had a head gasket go and any hint of throttle it became a total 4 lane blocking fog machine! :lol

My father worked at an Opel Dealership as did I for a few years - hence why I became a fan. After I left the car trade I had a string of various models including a Kadett B Coupe, my last Opel was a Gold Manta GT/E with the factory gold wheels. I then converted to Vauxhall before I changed to used Mercs being a big fan of the W124 series saloons both 230E & 260E variants.

Thank you :thumb2

I have lots of old photos of some of mine & my parents cars. I'll have to dig them out, if I can find them

More Photos

Our Mini Cooper shortly after my brushed re-paint circa 1980.

I had one of these back in 1965 sold it when the new MoT regs came in. This example was at Knebworth Park Car Show. Winding forward front screen, mine had built in wheel jacks front and rear to enable easy front to rear wheel changes,

My only ever new car a Vauxhall Astra 1600 SR - I could not afford the GT version and was also wary of fuel injection in 1984! Mine was A77DVO. Water damaged photo as a result of house fire.

Tis indeed an AMC Pacer. Quite dangerous to drive apparently. Prone to fuel tank rupturing upon rear impact
