Well removed the radio today to fit it into my red t2 and found this black box looks like it's one for the insurance it didn't like being unplugged. Can these be adapted to home use for tracking a car

What happened when you unplugged it?

I'd be contacting the previous owner and finding out what insurance company fitted it and getting them to remove it as it's a breach of your privacy!!!!!

It was gotten from a car dealer be funny if there insured with the same company as it would have set a tamper off

noticed it's got an imei number on the label so it's likely to have a SIM card inside it. Google the name on label and see if there's a way to modify it to your needs.

I know this is an old thread but - watch out for these devices. There is a scam where you buy a vehicle, and a few days later, no matter where you are - it mysteriously goes missing

Theres also been instances on high value vehicles where a magnetic gps tracker has been placed on it.
