Our Jeep is 13 years old in January what is the general view on when to replace brake flexi-hoses these days with more modern hose materials is there an age when it is a must ?

I have just had the long metal front to rear brake pipe replaced and noticed that the ferrules/unions on the rear brake flexi-pipes are showing some rusting.

When brake hoses were more rubbery i generally replaced them at around 5-8 years of age.
I noticed that the odd looking brake pipe arrangement on the Jeep rear Boomerang was quite rusty and scabby in appearance. I am minded to replace all of the rear hoses anyway due to age. There is one on each caliper plus the one shown below.

For peace of mind, and at that price, I wouldn't wait...
Replaced the entire brake pipe system on my T2 last year, had been on the car for almost 20 years. Should have been done 10 years ago, I think...

You are right for peace of mind I should replace the rear hoses and metal pipes if needed whilst I am at it.

I will do the rear as soon as I have the pipes and do the front ones in phase 2.

Check out hel performance. The do some really good braided hose kits. Ive put a set on my Troll:thumb2
