The battery on the Maverick went flat and no longer charges up.

Replaced battery, engine turns over at the usual speed, but won't start. Replacement battery has gone flat now. I'll recharge the battery (once i've gone and collected it from bexhill lol, partners parents have it).

The replacement battery is from the terrano, after this went flat i got a new battery for the terrano.

The fuel gauge is above the red zone.

Last time the maverick ran was 4 days ago.

Any help appreciated.

Visiting the grandparents. My partner is from Bexhill. Was at the garages on The Glades.

Not far.

Oh well I think the starter motor on the maverick is toast.

New battery and its a very slow crank once or maybe twice and then it won't anymore.

Put the same battery on the terrano and started straight away and cranked over normally.

We aren't using the Maverick anymore and I'm not going to spend anymore money on it.

At least found out what the problem is.

I checked the earths, best i could and cleaned them up. still no change.

We aren't using the car anymore and to have the starter motor changed, its not really viable.

Lowered asking price.

hmmmmm

a guy arrived in a van with a tow rope to bump the car. It wouldn't start after going nearly a mile down the road.

Sounds like a Nats problem, if it is a mechanical pump I can tell you how to bypass the NATs but not on here, if you want to know then PM me your phone number, Rick

I don't think ford did nats. The key i have, has an led which is a torch.

The only thing I have forgotten is when I changed over batteries, the negative terminal did spark a few times, before being tightened down.

I wonder if this has damaged the ecu. I've checked all the fuses in the engine bay and nothing is blown.

yes its a mechanical pump, with a choke lol

Mavs have Nats, and the choke is in fact a hand throttle and when full out advances the pump a tad to help cold starting in cold climates, Rick

What year is the mav? Sounds like a older version if it has a hand throttle.
