Hi gentlemen
I am sure one of the can answer this , how is the front wiper motor on a 97 Ford Maverick removed , it works but the motor is very noisy , removing the 4 bolts in the engine compatment does not release the motor , I dont want to force it off just in case it has a clamp or bolt to secure the drive shaft to the linkage . I cant find any other access points to look at it . Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks slimjim :?:

Hi Slimjim,
I am at that stage now as the wipers have ceased to be. (97 Ford Maverick0 The motor is fine and running but not moving the arms. I cannot get to the inside via the cab without moving masses. I have removed the 4 bolts also and that is it .The motor will not come out. I do have The Nissan Terrano Service manual (its huge). I have been looking for ages and can only find wiring details. Nothing about the motor removal. I shall keep looking as it must be there somewhere. I will contact you if I find anything relevant.
Maybe you have sorted it out please let me know .Regards Swanny.

Would you mind giving a quick description of how you managed to solve the wiper motor removal problem.

Just so the rest of us can do the same should we need to

Many thanks.

Hello,(Sorry I am New to this site, just finding my feet)
I have an SWB 2.4 1997 .I am assuming all 97 builds are the same. My W/Motor on N/Side.Ensure connector plug on W/Motor removed. Trying to undo or tighten up the nut turns the motor and sets it going from its stop position. Ouch.

1.Remove wipers arms. Puller required on mine.
2.Remove plastic trim under Wipers/Windscreen, held by plastic push in pegs?.I replaced with self tappers as they screw in nicely to the plastic locators.
3.Remove the right hand plate/cover so you can see the end of the arm that is connected to the motor shaft by a nut. This was not on mine as it had come loose hence no activity. It is on a taper and fiddly to relocate. A lot easier than I thought it was going to be. Once the arm is disconnected you can draw the Motor from the bulkhead.Removing 4 bolts. I have taken a couple of pics ,Will have to find out how to put in album?
Hope this make sense. I still cannot find any reference to it in the Service Manual.

Best of Luck

Nice One Swanny

My wipers stopped in the middle of the windscreen a few days ago. I could hear the motor running and both wipers moved when i tried them by hand.

I followed your instructions and the nut holding the mechanism to the motor was loose, bit of a bugger to get tight again and on the first try the wipers moved down across the bonnet! oops. Loosened nut and repositioned mechanism by hand and now all OK.

Cheers

Wiper Motor removal

Glad you found it useful. I did say remove the electrical connection first. The motor should have stopped in the off cycle. Soon as you turn the motor spigot it goes into drive mode. That's why I said oops too!! as I did the same and it took off. It could be nasty amazing how much power in those motors!

Regards Swanny
