Basically he didn't like it but he couldn't fail it.

Well, he didn't fail it on the fibreglass anyway and he was a real fussy tester, Which in a way is no bad thing. It was booked in for 1.30pm they started it at 1.40pm, I left at 3.15pm. I could tell from the viewing area he wasn't sure about the fibreglassing because he was hammering at it constantly. Floor and sills. Floor and sills. Then he'd do something else and start hammering again at the sills. I couldn't take anymore so I went out and asked him how he thinks it's going? "someones been at it with fibreglass!" I said "is that no good?"
"NOOO!!" "Oh right, is it a fail then?" "NOOOO!! Cant fail it for that!"
- He put 2 body mounts down as advisories because of fibreglass. Apparently Couldn't tell if it was cosmetic or rotten - I said "I've watched you hammer every bit underneath this truck. My dad had a whole car made of fibreglass and it only had 3 wheels can't be much wrong with it!?"
Not a nice tester this one but he was thorough like I said. End of the day the floor is really solid, probably better than when it left the factory as are the sills.

It failed on other things:
1.O/S rear side lamp bulb (replaced)
2.O/S rear indicator not working (gave it a tap before I drove off, works!)
3.N/S window washer giving insufficient wash (fair enough, a pin will sort it.)
4.O/S Inner wheel arch excessive corrosion near brake servo mount (Hole about the size of my index finger. Fair enough, Was not spotted before)
5.O/S front trye in contact with steering arm (adjusted steering lock stops)

I've done 1,2,5.

All for a £30 MOT from Kwik-Fit.// :augie

thats why he's fussy it's kwikfit, pile of sh!te. I like how he says he does not like it, your not going there to see what he likes or not. He's there to test it to MOT specs.

My mate who's a mot tester said he can only use finger pressure on stuff, no hammers etc.

So true... Halfraurds are nearly as bad...

When my T2 went in for it's MOT, the guy doing it, not realising I was still there took the keys from the desk, and as he went out the door, said, oh another fail today, those Nissan Grey Imports never pass....

I said to the guy behind the desk about it, and said I was a bit concerned about his attitude, as he had effectively failed it before even looking at it, and not only that, but it was not a Grey Import, as the T2 was a fully UK spec car...

It was so satisfying when it passed, but one of the advisory's, was the towbar was covered. I asked about it, and it is because they are not allowed to take the cover off, so they put it on there to let them know it was not checked... DOH... It's a rubber cover for goodness sake.. so hard to take off, and even if they dropped it, it's not going to brake...

shows what they know, most imports are actually in better rust condition than a similar vehicle thats been on our roads all it's life.

^^^^^ unbelievable!!!!! my god I wish I had been there!

12 months MOT. :clap:clap:clap
:D
Cost me a weeks work as its my work vehicle. But because of the great club members here - especially to Jeff who travelled over again to fix up the inner wheel arch - it has not cost anywhere near as much as it may have done in a garage.:thumbs (I would have had to scrap it:rolleyes:)

And I think I've learnt (watched) enough to have a go myself next time. So when the pennies build up a bit I'm having a grinder and a welder and some fibreglass sheets.
