Terrano 2 3 Lt 03 plate, noticed brake fluid on the ground level with the drivers dood, got under to have a look thinking got to fit new metal brake line, but it was not the brake line . Fuid is coming from the metal line(about 1/4 diameter) that comes after the connector block that the feed to the clutch slave rubber hose goes into. The metal line goes to a block with a bleed niple, and ends just above rear axle on chassis. What is the line for? and could I do away with it as it seems to serve no perpose. Terminate it after the 1st connector block?

It's the Clutch Damper, a lot of people have done away with it in various ways. I too sorted out a bolt with the correct thread to blank the hole off.

I have noticed a difference and if I really had the inclination I'd love to reinstate it. Can here and feel a sort of growl.

Others haven't noticed any difference.

If Nissan were happy to save a few penny's by not fitting grease nipples on the UJ's then I feel sure the clutch damper would have been on the penny saving list too, unless it actually proved useful......

Mine was leaking last week. I cut it about 4" back from the block, used two hammers to close it, then folded it over on itself a couple of times and hammered it until it sealed again. Now I've put it out of my mind and intend never to look at the stupid damn thing again :augie

Yeah rubbish damper pipe, block it off or, if you dig up one of my old threads there is a new pipe you can buy for the slave that eliminates that anyway (only a two way box vs the standard 3 way box)
