Fitting the front bumper

I cracked the front bumper on my LWB 2.7, so I took it off to repair it. Job done, I had a mind to put it back on but can't figure out how to seat it on the t-shaped pieces of rubber projecting from the wings and still get it to sit behind the metal pieces at the rear of the bumper support. Can't be rocket science but I'm not working with NASA either! Any one got the solution?

pretty easy...have you got axel stands or a jack (use the terrano jack).

position the bumper partially on, never mind the sides just now, then fit the jack carefully in the middle of the bumper underneath and jack it up so the bumper is fairly level. Begin pushing in, but check each side is on the t brackets first then push in a bit, check again and so on. Once on, use the jack to get the correct level, then begin tightening the bolts, checking each side as you do..

If they are cracked you can plastic weld them:thumb2 all you need is a soldering iron & a bit of old bumper to feed in, well that's what I used to repair the re No plate bracket on mine as it had 4 huge cracks in it & will be doing the same on my mates rear bumper

Well, the reason I cracked it clean in two can be seen in this photo. although the real reason is that I wasn't paying attention...

And I know that over side of the Irish Sea you might have a notion that this is Beverly Hillbilly country but you just wouldn't be allowed to drive around with half a bumper, So I repaired it, cheaply, efficiently, and Dr. Frankenstein would have been proud of me......I think.

Hi Alex, the stitching is reinforced on the inside with fibreglass matting and although I had also thought of sanding the outer side, I thought it would weaken it so I decided to leave it and perhaps put a layer of matting over the exterior stitching. Realistically, it's a matter of satisfying the National Car Test, the equivalent of the M.O.T. It might have been better to use black fishing line instead of the clear stuff but a coat of paint might disguise that. I see that your bumpers would need a pretty sharp needle and titanium fishing line to do the same repair!
