Ok, well, it doesn't do it at the moment, but I will keep an eye on it. Maybe I should make it tell me its fault codes anyway.

Andrew the gromet is on the drivers side down the bulkhead under brake Servo etc, its about 2" Diameter there is one on passenger side but its harder to get at due to ABS and exhaust.

My motor must be different.

I can tell there is a grommet on the driver's side because a harness disappears into the small gap between the servo and the inner wing. You can't see the grommet or get your fingers to it. The harness reappears through the insulation to the right of throttle pedal inside the cab. I can't see a grommet on the passenger side at all or any unused grommets anywhere. There is, though, a grommet right behind the engine in the middle of the bulkhead, about level with the rocker cover. It also has a wiring harness passing through it. If I remove the plastic engine cover and the intercooler, I just might be able to get at it. I've no idea whether it's accessible inside the cab - just possible maybe if I remove the glove box.

Mmmm ........ ponder

Might be better getting head unit out then?

In the end, this was easier than I had feared. I did, though, adopt a (probably) unusual way of accessing the intake airstream. I manufactured a 6mm thick aluminium plate the same shape and with the same fixing holes as the base of the boost sensor (MAP sensor). I then drilled and tapped a 1/8" BSP hole in the aluminium that would be directly over the hole in the intercooler through which the boost sensor probe normally fits - and made a gasket. I then fitted a 1/8" BSPT elbow hosetail to that threaded hole.

After that it was straightforward, simply fit a short piece of hose to the tail, tee piece, more hose - and then connect one end to the MAP sensor probe and the other to the boost gauge sensor. Simples ...........
