Well as i've had the T2 almost a year I thought it was time it had it's first oil change after covering just over 5K:D found the old oil filter had been leaking a little which will be why i've had to do the odd top up:augie one thing I noticed is that my last T2 never had air con so it was far easier to remove the oil filter unlike this one with air con:doh but it's done now & it'll be another year until it needs doing again:augie

good idea to do the fuel and air filter while your at it:thumb2

Fuel filter was replaced by the garage when I bought the T2 so should be able to get a few more miles out of it yet, air filter is never getting replaced as it's a K&N:thumbs

Isn't it a 6 month service on these things ??

Think it is well I used to do it every 6 months/6K miles on my last T2 but I did around 12K a year but only do about 5K a year these days so in a way only need to change the oil once a year but if my mileage go's up so will the amount of oil changes:thumb2

Good man :thumb2

if i changed my oil every 6k it would be a weekly event

I used 5/30 semi-synthetic universal tractor oil in mine for about 2 years till the barrel ran out but the secret is change it and the filter regularly. Now use 10/40 semi...
Change the air filter every 6 months and it will pay for itself in better mpg. Fuel filter depends on what you run it on but at least every 10,000 miles.David.

I run on plain old diesel & used to change the fuel filter just once a year (12k'ish miles) on my last T2 & never had any probs but i'm sure Nissan just do the oil & filter on the 6K service & oil & all filters on the 12K service plus brakes etc:rolleyes: as I said don't need to worry about the air filter for a long time yet as I fitted a K&N but might clean it in another 20K:augie Just got the brakes to clean & adjust up now & book it in for it's MOT oh & adjust the torsion bars up as noticed today how nose down it is:augie

I base my oil changes on the glass test, it is by far the most reliable unless you do very low mileage, I use this test as I have stationary engines and the hour count idea is not worth it's salt, I have only used it on diesel , guess it would work on petrol but different gradings would apply for which I have no data, if you want to know more PM me, Rick

I remember my Grandad telling me something about this Rick but can't remember now & sadly my Grandad passed away 3 years ago, wish I had thought to write down all the great info he knew as he was a first class mechanic & engineer :D
Will PM you Rick

Had my last truck 3 years and only checked the oil twice and never did change it.

If it was a car i wanted to keep (like my current one is) I will do oil and filter every 6000miles or 6 months, whichever comes first. Engine will last forever if you do that.
Had a Cabstar with a 2.7TD engine with above service interval. Did 250k in that and engine was spotless. If I had sprayed the used oil onto the bodywork every time i changed it I would still have it. As it was the truck dissolved from under me!

:clap:clap:clap terrano oil 5/30 :thumbs

I won't use 5w30:thumbs I like something a bit thicker & can handle more heat, I might plod around in my T2 but will be getting a caravan so engine temps will go up a bit & the old boy racer in me comes out now & again & I can get the turbo's on these engines starting to glow:naughty
