I want to give my 'new' Terrano a birthday when I am off shift on Friday, is it best to buy genuine Nissan fiters, I always have before with previous vehicles and motorbikes.

Just off to search for the best 5-30 oil to get :augie

Check out Asda they have Castrol on special... well at least they did got myself a big one last week :)

Cheers Dorn, how much was it? I will see if the old man can pick me some up tomorrow unless its 24 hour then I can go after work.

oy finks 5w/30 is da wrong stuff innit
( im practising for the grandkids visiting lol )

Briggie, if my grandkids start that chav speak they soon find themselves losing there sweets and pocket money, or my usual reply is 'I'm sorry, I only speak English' :D

I thought I read that 5-30 semi synth was what it should have  I better go look again:doh

I think for the UK climate, 10/40, 15/40 or 15/50 is the best choice, either semi synthetic or mineral. That's what range I would be looking for according to the manual, I have a 2001 2.7 diesel. :)

Yep I use that or 10w15, or mixture of both depending what was left from last oil change.
Oh... semi synthetic depends when Tesco or Asda have it on offer, I usually stock up. BUT I always use Castrol.

Did I say I have been doing this for 18 years too...:doh

best regards,

Rustic

15/4o mineral we chuck in 360 and shovel at work theres a few thoughts on here the older trucks run better on mineral
Think plank has done a lot of thinking on the subject

Semi is fine, mines done 150k is sweet as a nut, no ticks or rattles and no smoke at all on semi :)

Cheapest 15w/40 is best DO NOT USE full synthetic.

I buy all 3 filters (oil, air and fuel) from milners 4x4 online at £9 a go.
Never had any problems in the last few years.

I ordered a service kit from Milners today including Fuchs 10w40 semi and a rocker cover gasket so I can do the valve clearances, hopefully it will come tomorrow or Friday so I can give it a birthday.

Iv'e had my rocker box cover off a few times, and still on the original gasket.
No sign of any leaks. :thumb2

Take care you don't loose the "o" ring seals on the fixing bolts.:nenau

I did my service yesterday but didnt get the clearances done because of the weather, will have to wait for better weather.
The fuel filter was only half full when I took it off, had a quick check of fuel lines but couldnt find any dampness anywhere?
