Well done, DoE is a great thing. I'm curious, how long does it take to become a full assessor/leader for DoE? Our scout group is planning to get a couple of leaders DoE trained to push the Explorers a bit more. (Fairly sure it'll push the leaders more than the kids).

I'm a cub leader myself and I agree that scouting has too many rules and forms which puts many a good potential leader off and leaves us with too many soft leaders. We still stick to as much traditional scouting with the cubs as we can though.

Basically I have to wait until mt organisation runs the courses. Pretty sure a matter of weeks if the courses are run straight after one another. However I'm happy enough to wait and gain experience as I'm going along.

As for rules, trust me scouts have far more freedom than us:doh

Just got back home this evening after a weekend away at Wyton. Completed a D of E Leadership Course, just need to do a 13 week learning log including lesson plans for the full qual. So can really start the D of E programme with the young people this year. First navigation training booked for the end of the month, a short 6k route but I know it will and should take several hours teaching nav.
