I was presented with my first Duke of Edinburgh Award instructors qualification this morning and more to come next year. So feeling pleased with myself.

Excellent. Well done, this is a great organisation to work with and really makes a difference to those being trained. :thumb2:thumb2

well done jim , I took your place at diggle today ...... excellent exercise , my 817nd performed faultlessly :thumb2

Top man :thumbs As said above , a top scheme that gets kids away from screens and such. I remember my DOE . Probably where I got my love of offroading from. Out over the Brecons on camp and map session :camping:
I hope it's not gone all soft like scouts has now

Nice to have recognition for your hard work and commitment.
:clap:clap

Cheers guys, defo not gone soft. I never did d of e but I can confirm it's still just as hard as ever but different challenges available. For another qual I did the equivelant of a silver exped and have to say I really take my hat off to the young people who do the expeds.

Looking forward to getting the assessors qual eventually.

Pete, glad it went off ok and believe me I really wanted to be there. That kind of excersize is just my thing too, Brian says there are going to be more next year so fingers crossed I can make those.

Have to say there must of been 50 or 60 young people getting their bronze, silver and gold certificates. I had nothing but admiration for them. The whole day really made up for missing out on the radio Pete.

Nice one Jim :clap I did my silver but found girls before finishing my gold :augie
This country needs more guys like you to keep these awards real.
Well done again :thumb2

:clap congratulations jim briggie is that diggle where I first shot a bren gun in the ta :thumbs

Cheers guys Im still buzzing. I'm out this weekend taking some young people up to the Dales doing some walking. Not D of E but still introducing them to navigation. Going to be shattered on Sunday when I get home but great fun.

Just had an email today, I'm on the next two d of e leadership courses at the end of February. Got to go all the way down to a place called Wyton in Cambridgeshire, RAC Route Planner says 2 1/2 hours so I'll add an hour on to that :doh

Congratulations Mate :thumb2

I did my Bronze and Silver whist in the air cadets like Pete and also strangely didn't complete my Gold for the same reason :augie

I think me and Pete are the same person lol

Should be a good weekend mate, great qualification to have. I admire the effort that your putting into younger people not many people make time to help others like your doing. Keep up the good work :thumb2

I and others wouldn't do it if we didn't enjoy it. Another seven years and your lad can come along:lol

Well done Jim, a great achievement, with more to come......like others on here I got my Bronze and Silver.......and also discovered girls before Gold!
However, it did reinforce my great love of the countryside, outdoors and the incredible social benefits you can achieve.
It was highly significant in my future career in countryside management......:thumb2

Haha he loves mountains at the moment!! He wants to climb Everest!! Let me know when you have half a day we will tackle it :lol
