That's a bad run of luck. I feel for you... what year was it?

Was this the knocking noise you reported earlier in another thread?

Regards

Alan

I assume you have the model with the front fixed hubs, the original versions had free wheel hubs, so the front prop shaft never turned unless in 4 wheel drive. So no wear and tear on the front diff, CV's,Propshaft or transfer box front end.

So I assume no one had greased the front 3 grease nipples on the front prop shaft, as you have to remove the lower engine tray.

I still believe the earlier Mavericks and Terranos ie pre intercooler are more reliable, although lacking the extra power, and maybe slight better fuel consumption.
Less to go wrong, easier to fault find and cheaper to fix. No MAF either. :doh

well guys its a 03 plate two , there a old saying fixs it ya self then you know its right;) the knocking nosie early well yesterday can only be down to this prop shaft two. as its gone now cos as soon as i heard it i turn the engine off and stop the car so am putting the shakeing down to the prop two ,as some one said earlyer ,, iv rang the garage i got it from and told them of it and also told them i am not happy with this car and told them tradeing standard are going to be informed ,, about this prop shaft and well  after a few mm and er ers they are going to foot the bill for this and are going to pay me all the money back iv spend on the car after the warrentry ran out so result if you use a word like trading standards ,, :thumbs and they are picking the car up two as am not driving it 30 miles to them in the state its in :sly

I got my Maverick fixed by quoting TS they are the good guys if you are buying from trade:clap:clap

The trader will record it as "a good will gesture", as otherwise it will open the flood gates to later claims from other previous sales.

Excellent result though. :thumb2

the late ones haven't got grease nipples on the front prop have they?

You have had some bad luck but at least the dealer came good for you. I have to say though I never count tyres and exhausts in with reliability of a car. Sounds like a previous owner didn't keep up to proper maintenance which is common place with second hand cars. Hopefully you'll of sorted the major issues and have a reliable motor when the UJ is fixed.

How long since you bought it - Trading Standards will confirm you've got six months from date of purchase, whatever the garage says.

Well done.....but he knows he's got no choice TBH because of the 6-month thing....if you get any problems just call Trading Standards, they are very helpful. You'd also be within your rights (if he refused) to have the work done elsewhere and sue him through Small Claims Court (cheap and easy) for the costs.
