Has anyone hade a problem with the ECM?
I have jerking between 2000 - 3000 rpm at full trottle that i can't find out the problem. I read yesterday a fix bullitin that the ECM has a faulty mapping and that the ECM has to be changed?
Anyone experiansed this?

never heard of that before ...... but i wait to be proved wrong

Like Pete not heard of this and my two certainly do not do it, I have a 99 ECM plus the required NATS stuff to go with it if you need one, maybe rayf can enlighten us, Rick

What year is yours ? never had any probs with my old 1999 or this late 2005:thumb2 but like others not heard of this before. If it's a standard ECM the surely Nissan will be able to plug it into their computer & reset or install the correct mapping:nenau. TBH i'd clean the mini filter inside the banjo bolt on the pump & fit a new fuel filter first as both can partly block up & starve the engine of fuel at high rev's or when put under load had this problem myself the other month as fuel filter was partly blocked:doh is the EML light coming on & if it is have you read the code

after thinking, which is hard to do after a big steak and a bottle of wine followed by a scotch or two, I suspect it is more of a MAF problem, Rick

I got the Zexel system and the car ia a 96'
I read this in Autodata in the known fix bullitins.
All the symptoms fits the discription.
Autodata said it only a small series that has this problem. (Don't remeber the serienr. Involved atm.)

Mmmmmmmm odd one this, maybe Norway had TDi earlier than the UK as ours were not around till 98, are you sure it is a TDi do you have the intercooler? Rick

One of those questions I'd love to know the answer to :thumb2

I did not know that.
My 96' is an original TDI and got an original intercooler ;)
We hade the change between TD and TDI in 96'

I have heard several Terranos in Norway that has ECU problems. Maybe they are all 96/97 models.

(PS. Have changed the Maf a couple of times. It's not getting any better.)

Rule number one. never buy the first production of any major upgrade. ...i.e Computer controlled injection.

I would not be surprised if the fuel system is having issue's but if it isn't the ecu it will be the magnets that drive the needle valve inside the head of the pump.

Secondly, being norway, if its anything like the latitudes down here in NZ in winter you can expect that temperature has had an effect on the system.

On later models the needle valve's in the TDI pumps tend to wear into its plunger/sleeve allowing play, once worn they can contact the sleeve rendering the magnets ability to move the needle to either idle or intermitent throttle positions....one day fine, the next day you go to start it up and it won't rev.

be interested to know what your Maf cost was? Rick

Thanks for the info ;) I had no idea this was the first in production. I saw a cheap 4x4 and bought it. A bit skeptical since i have had Nissan before and have had alot of problems with it.
This does not make me like Nissan anymore by the way :p

I think i just have to realize that i can't find this problem my self and try the local Nissan shop.

The car starts fine, even in VERY cold weather. It idles fine and runs good. (except at full hard throttle between 2000 - 3000 rpm)
But i think the cold winter weather here has had a impact on the fuelsystem as well.

Mine is a 96 TDi also :)
New to this thread and on the phone so have you checked your fuel lines for corosion ? It could be sucking in air . At 2000 - 3000 rpm you're at the less useful end of the MAF's job I'd have thought.

I have a 98 scrapper with the zexel setup, if your ECU is front of passenger footwell then you are welcome to my unit complete with immobiliser and key for £50 plus shipping cost, Rick

I have inspected the fuel lines, and they looks good.
But im going to drain the fuel tank, change the fuel lines and filter just to be sure. I suspect it sucks air somewhere.

The car work very well up to 2000-2300 rpm. Good power.

Do you have the EML on ? Any fault codes ?

Nope. Nothing at all. A was at a friend at the Nissan workshop yesterday and we connected it to the Consult III. Nothing came up.
But he was very certain the it was the mini filter.

I have tried to look for the mini filter before, but didn't find it and thought it wasn't there. But he was very certain that it was there and that was the problem. So i'll try once more to find the filter.
