Nissans up to 2007 are not OBD-II compliant (though later Patrols and I guess Terranos too do have a 16pin OBD-II layout diagnostics plug). They all use Nissan's own diagnostics system. From 2007 onwards, the device should work - but you need to check with the vendor. Personally, I wouldn't buy one anyway as you can read and reset fault codes using a piece of copper wire about 3ins long. See: http://users.on.net/%7Easchulze/ZD30/ZD30%20Y61%20Reference%20Document%20-%20Colour.pdf Why pay nearly £70 quid for a code reader when you can do it for nowt?
There is a device that I've seen on Ebay that does work with non-OBD-II Nissans with either 14 pin or 16 pin diagnostics plugs. It will read & reset codes and, I think, read the data stream too, so you can diagnose and verify sensors. Unfortunately, it's about £170.
Another approach is to buy just the plug/lead that will attach to your diagnostics socket and to a laptop - and then download one of the freeware programs that duplicates mosts of the functions of Nissan's Consult-II system.
