failed mot

hi well the maverick failed the mot today. hills ford wanted £620 notes to do the job:eek: so took the car to a body shop down the road they wanted not much shy of a grand to do the job. I have no problem using a welder done the job for a few years. so gonna get one again. reasons for failure

001 nearside registration plate lamp not working

002 nearside headlamp aim too far right

003 offside front body or chassis has excessive corrosion seriously affecting its strength within 30cms off body mountings

004 nearside front (inner sill) body or chassis has excessive corrosion seriously affecting its strength within 30cms off body mountings

005 offside front (inner sill) body or chassis has excessive corrosion seriously affecting its strength within 30cms of body mountings

006 nearside (center to rear inner sill) body or chassis has excessive corrosion seriously affecting strength within 30cms of body mountains

007 nearside front (inner sill area) seatbelt anchorage prescribed area is excessively corroded

008 offside rear (inner arch area) seatbelt area is excessively corroded

advisory

offside and nearside constant velocity joint gaiter deteriorated, but preventing ingress of dirt

front area exhaust has a minor leak

offside and nearside suspension has slight play in lower balljoint

nearside front wheel bearing has slight play

both rear outer sills corroded badly outside prescribed area

got a bit to go at there

its all good mate im gonna order welder tonight of ebay I was a welder for 6 years might need five minutes to get back into though. thing I don't really know about is thickness of the plates to weld back in? is there any regulations on the plate sizes for mot
 
Hey, You could've come round and welded mine!
I'll lend you my welder and kit as long as you pay for any gas used?

I got some 1.2mm steel as well?

:lol not the end of the world mate. biggest issue I got is I have to carry a lot of kit for work but im on a job at the moment with a good friend whos also a chippie so I will use his kit:thumbs

Don't think there's a regulation as long as its solid, I use scrap bonnet or panel from a scrappy, just go to a scrap yard not a breakers and they will give you a panel for a fiver.

Thats all i use a local place that fits side windows and sun roofs in vans and things the panels that get cut out he gives you for nowt just grind the paint off the edges the rest is already primed

I would use 0.8 - 1mm i used to buy sheets from steel stockholders ask for top sheets will be damaged but are very cheap.All welding must be continuous even where it was spotwelded originaly.
