Hi my Mav failed its MOT on rear anti roll bar drop links and ineffective handbrake, think I can manage the handbrake but are there any downloads for changing rear drop links? and how hard is it?
94 MAV SWB 2.7TD.
Thanks in advance Rich..

Not necassarly mate
If the mot tester has seen it on there, he'll just fail it for being absent:doh

Yep he's seen it!! Free retest so may as well do em rather than take it somewhere else. Seen some on e bay but wondering if its a diy job with limited knowledge?

very much like the front arb. get new links from millers or ebay..

Sorry one more question.. can it be done on wheel ramps or best flat on ground?

dont buy ebay shite. bushes or joints. me and makeitfit have both had really bad experiences with ebay joints...

Get them from your local motor factors, they are about £12 a side! Just did mine sat on the floor at the front of my house, really really easy job! Theres only two small bolts

I'd only buy uprated ones from milners if you seriously abuse your motor off road, if not just get the normal quality ones from a motor factors and you wont change them again...

Got the drop links and handbrake adjustment done, booked in for retest tomorrow, my mrs comes back today and a stone hit the windscreen off a car coming in the opposite direction on a country road today and has put a slit in the fooking windscreen!!! Right at the bottom on drivers side. My windscreen excess is £75 what can i expect to pay for windscreen if I dont go through my insurance, and use a local fitter?
Cheers Rich

i had to replace my windscreen . and trust me , paying the £75 is a heck of a lot cheaper..... my insurance company used auto windscreens .... luvverly job :thumb2

Replaced the windscreen through insurance, and went back for MOT yesterday, Tester said it would have to have a complete retest as it was 11 days ago!! Is that correct? Reason is when he retested it the handbrake was totally inoperative on passenger side this time and drivers front drop link was present but had ripped through the wishbone!!
Anyway couldnt be bothered about taking it home again so paid him £60 to strip and sort handbrake both sides and do front link, but also had to pay for another test!! So a nice little £100 for him!! Anyway the Mav is legal for another year and had the mrs not got the windscreen twatted by a stone it wouldnt have been so bad!!
Thanks for all the advice.
Rich

These cars are money pits mate, just finding that out myself.
Having said that any old car is going to eat your money, off-roaders especially, they get a harder life. And as off-roaders go, I think these are one of the better ones.
