Ooohhh, want one! I think:augie
Does it actualy do anything then or just for effect?:nenau

Stops water going where it shouldnt :doh

Ideal for off roading :sly

Better air intake :thumbs

Persisting down.

I have today done about 60miles in torential downpoors and guess what?
The glove box is full of water:augie
Raised air took lots of water but it didnt get to the engine:D
The little drain hole I put in did it's job a treat:thumbs
Nowthen, can anyone suggest a way of getting rid of the drain water again rather than filling the glove box?:nenau
Didnt want to just stick a pipe through the floor incase it manages to suck water up in a venturi style!
Cheers:eek:

mine dont let any water in........:augie:augie:augie:augie

you need a bigger top/scoop on the roof that covers the hole

No "leaks" when parked, so top lid not the prob, it's 70mph into torrents of wet!
I put the hole there to be safe and its worked but want to get rid somehow out of the car:nenau

ok well that needs to drain into a vented water trap/bottle

vented back up yo the roof via a hose

that way if the car drowns its still a sealed unit up to the roof

:thumbs
Just thought , I can also recycle it onto the intercooler :thumbs
Bottle it is then, saves the glove box becoming a wash basin:lol

thing is though chaps, check plenty of the snorkels out there - a lot of them face, wait for it...BACKWARDS!!! I know you think you're getting a ram-air effect, but I'd bet money on it that you ain't....:augie

Borroks
Nearly blew my wig off when I was testing it.I had the slot cut in de roof before I plumbed it in and it most def. ramed it in:D
I used to turn my snorkel top round when off road to stop it catching trees n that.
However on road it does ram it in, oh and the wet:lol

I'm not disputing it will try and force air in - what I'm saying is you can only cram a finite amount of atmosphere into those little cylinders and I suggest the Law of Diminishing Returns comes into play fairly quickly, i.e. you can ram what you like in but it ain't gonna get gobbled:eek:....but I'll let an eggspurt shoot me down......:cool:

so where would be the best place to put a dump valve on a t2, i fancy one on the truck.:naughty

I dont know I'm afraid:augie
I was told on here you cant...............but since found plenty who say you can:nenau
Adz reckons his mate has one I'll ask him at the weekend:thumbs

Ah, I remember now:rolleyes:
You can fit one if you want a bit of noise:augie but it doesn't give you any benefit at our sort of speeds:eek:
Better spending the money on a bigger turbo :naughty
Deisel dump valve about £130 min:eek:
T28 turbo £166 :D

this looks fantastic mate love it i think im gonna make one based off this but id like it to sick up from the roof as i think water and mud may get inside and i don,t like the sound of that nice work mate

regards brian :D:thumb2:D

would the bit of extra air forced in help make up for the restrictions of the very long intake route with lots of bends?

I got it done too & it doesnt get anything other than air through it :thumbs

Before doing it, have a look at makeitfit's n mine :thumbs

thanks mate ive had a good look at them and love the idea and the way you have done them i will be doing it just not sure if it will be it the same way yet

Petes (makeitfit) is the quitest & Colins (extreme-4x4) is quite too, just hear the turbo whistle :sly & mine is well loud due to using alloy tubing not plastic & rubber pipe as the other two plus mine is completely stripped as it is going to end up as a off road toy only :sly :naughty :thumbs

smooth tube is the way forward, i did mine with flexi coiled hose, its good and no rain in, well no more that if it were standard. pete (makitfit) used guttering hence the smooth and its a little quieter. but we are not talking loud in either meathods.
i suppose at 3500 rpm it sounds like the heater fan on number 3. so really not noisy.
