Thats handy, and if it is anything like mine, it even automatically turns off after 10 mins.

Did you disconnect the demister?

How come you did not wire it straight into the reversing light wiring, so it comes on when you use the gearstick.

i have but iv used the live feed from the standard reverse light to switch the relay i didnt want to over load the original wireing running a 55watt light plus 21 watts = 76 watts total far to high a load.

stick it in reverse and if i want extra light hit the demist. simples

You sir are a legend!!!!!!

I've been dreading running wiring for that all down the length of the car I've been putting it off until I've finished the commercial conversion so I know that once the wiring is in and down I won't need to mess with it again.

Where did you earth to?

earthed the relay and light to one of the indicator mounting bolts that come straight threw the body work into that nice little cavity behind the plastic trim. job done :thumbs

of course if you just want a dash switchable working light you can just wire the light direct to the demist connector in the rear quarter panel. sorted. i cant honestly think when iv ever used the rear demist like i said limo black window tint. just wireing direct to the demist feed is by far the simplest option.

i wanted an extra built in saftey measure it will only come on in reverse and with demist turned on i will dissconnect the demist at the window end if required but its connected with very heavy gauge wire. the light i fitted also has a switch on it so thats 3 things that have to be correct before the light comes on.

why can't I just tap this light into the reversing light ? why do you need the relay and a switch . I only want it to come on when I put it in reverse and would this be fine ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/18W-6LED-...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a2ec75875 . plus what else would I need

thats an led light and very low wattage you can just dissconnect the standard reversing light and connect direct to the loom no risk at all of overloading anything. i recon you could just piggy back it if you want to. reverse light is not an mot requirement so happy days either way.

the important thing to remember here is not to overload the original wireing loom fuses etc LEDs draw a lot less current and give a brighter light.

in my case iv gone for good old 55watt spot light more than twice the original so i have the run it via a relay

Well, I'm amazed you haven't been asked already...where's the photos :augie

Right in between dodging downpours and flying branches this is the job I'm going to dp today if it kills me!!!

My worrklight is a low draw LED one so I'm wandering if I would be able to run it at the same time as the rear demister?

Eventually that will not be used as I'm going to Vinyl the rear window or Limo Black tint it

yep just find the 2 pin connector black wire and black n blue there are the very thick ones just come straight off those their all behind the left plastic trim

looks good a nice bright light from the led so this is a very simple fix just wire your working light to the rear demister or if you just want it working in reverse then wire direct to the existing reverse light but if you are using any other standard type light ie 55watt bulb then you must use a relay

Agreed :) didn't want to go straight onto the reverse light I prefer the option of having a switch

As previously mentioned, rear demister wont be in use much longer once I've tinted/vinyl'd the rear window

I'm pretty sure the pre facelift Mavericks came with a fog light button that fitted there?

I know that the pin out and plugs will be different but I'm pretty sure I'd be able to get the facia to fit the front so it didn't have the demister sign on it

This will make reversing with my trailer on so much easier :D
