Error codes help

I had to pay to have my flashing airbag light deleted yesterday.

It is now an MOT fail - it wasn't last year

The codes were

code1 no DTCs present
51 Assist AB module open
51 Assist AB module open

Does anyone know what this means ?

My airbag light was flashing when I got the car, I did the download from here and it's been fine for over a year now, I see it didn't work for you though.

I had a Saxo with the same problem, the cure was to cut the old plugs under the seats and hard wire/solder the wires, that did the trick.

The air bag controller does a check on all units by checking the resistance to each unit attached to it. From your description it appears that one unit is not showing the correct resistance.
This is most likely a connector issue, corroded, unplugged or least probable a faulty air bag.
Have a trawl though the RS/Restraint system section of the manual, there is lots of info there to help.
