Hello
Just wondering if any one has had any similar problems, my engine warning light keeps coming on when I check with code reader I get "P0217#12 engine coolant over temperature condition. However I don't think the car is running hot when I plug my code reader in and check live date the ETC temperature seems to stay around 180f or 82c and they are no signs of over heating.

I've replaced the two wire engine coolant temperature sensor, the mechanical thermostat, water pump and coolant.

If I re set the light it will go off it seems to come on at low speeds I've only noticed it come on when stationary or in slow traffic. But I've tried driving with the Code reader in on live data and even when the light comes on I've not noticed temp over 184f.

I've noticed the IAT says 419f but say told in a previous post this sensors not in use so don't think this is a issue?

See attached photos

Any ideas would be welcome???????? Thanks in advance

That has to be an issue with the temperature sensor surely?

Can I be nosey and ask what reader that is? Also is your truck a 2.7 or a 3 litre?

It's a Clark reader from machine mart it was about £65 it's the middle of the range one.

I've tried two temperature sensors and still getting the same problem unfortunately. I've not changed the gauge temperature sensor but don't think that has any inputs into the cars computer

Update

Looks like this fault was down to a loose connection into the ECU from the sensor , I remade the connections a few weeks back and it's been working ok since
