Seems like my terrano has started to use engine coolant, noticed it last weekend when doing the weekly check that it was on min.
Topped it up and checked it again today and its just below max.
Now it has done the normal run to work inc motorway work and its done a pay day.
Could this just be normal or the first sign of water pump going (engine temp is fine). Cant see any signs of leakage underneath.

Any other ideas ?

Richard

The water will be seen as lower in the tank after driving as it will be under pressure. But if your having to top it up it seems that you have a leak. It is probably best to take it to the garage and have the coolant system pressure tested as you can put a bit more pressure in the system than normal and you should find your leak. Check foot wells for damp carpet as well as heater matrix may be the culprit.

Ok thanks for that - just seemed odd to me as done lts of pay and plays before and coolant level never moved.
I noticed that at idle the engine seemed a bit louder than nornal but I just put that down to ambient air been warmer and hence oil been a bit thinner.

Think will get it booked into the garage and get them to do as you suggest a coolant pressure test ! Maybe me just jumping to conclusions with these engine been know for water pumps !

Thanks

Richard
