Looking to service the terrano, cant seem to find oil quantity or spec tho

So, what oil grade do you recommend for my 2.7 with 110k on the clock, also how much oil do i require?

How easy is the Diesel filter to change? Any tips on bleeding the system once its been off

Thanks

There is a never ending battle here between my preference 5W30 or the standard 10W40 choice is yours

the 10W40 lot reckon 5w30 is too thin, ive not had a problem though :nenau

The fuel filter is passenger side rear of the bonnet and should unscrew quite easily. There is a black rubber bit on top to prime up, make sure you fill the filter full of fresh diesel :thumb2

I have found its best to only half fill the filter prior to priming.

when bleeding I take off the pipe that goes to the pump and pump the primer till it comes out then replace it

Oil either 5W30 or 10W40 I use 10W40 as i'm happier with a slightly thicker oil in my engine & it's also cheaper:lol think it's around 6.5L you need. As for the fuel filter I just take the old one off & fit the new one & keep on pressing the primer button until it go's hard then start the engine & hold the rev's at 2K for a minute or two so any trapped air gets forced through

jumping on the service band wagon, is fully synthetic ok?

Cheers
Glen

oh, ok thats a shame cause ive got 10lt of the stuff. Thats strange though because euro car parts list the fully synthetic for my 2004 2.7tdi when i put my reg in.

10w40 15w40 mineral, or semi synthetic, for my td, depending on what the supermarkets have on offer at the time.

Been fine for me for 19 years... :thumb2
